Looking for Housemates
May. 18th, 2005 04:37 pmHi Everyone!
I'm looking for a housemate or two. Details behind the cut.
I'm moving to a great place on the corner of Powderhouse and Packard, right by school (Tufts) and only a 15 minute walk to Davis. I'm moving on July 1st, and whoever moves with me needs to be ok with pets - certainly cats and possibly rats. It's a two bedroom place, but one of the bedrooms is huge, so I can easily conceive of sharing with a couple if everything worked out right. Rent is going to be somewhere between $1550/month and $1450/month - the landlord hasn't gotten back to me on that. There are washer-dryer hook-ups, but the downstairs tenants are friends of mine and have said we can just use their machines if we give them some money towards the electricity and arrange a laundry schedule of sorts. We can also share broadband-internet costs with downstairs. It is quite a spacioius place and the downstairs neighbors are wonderful people.
Here are some details about the place from
desiringsubject, who just moved out of said apartment and is now living downstairs.
Visual: There is lots of light, particularly in the living room and kitchen during the day. There are some lovely architectural details, 2 columns in the living room, shelves and a cabinet in the sunroom. Large and plentiful windows.
Spatial: The kitchen is big enough to eat in. There is a fully fledged dining room, big enough for a sizeable table, with a built in china cabinet/shelf. The larger bedroom has a walk-in closet of truth and goodness. The smaller bedroom has a window seat that has storage in it. There is also storage in the basement (a little damp, basement-like, but lots of it!)
Environmental: There is lots of air, good cross-ventilation. There is a brand new hot water heater, and new pipes. In the week before we left (the week with new pipes) I noticed that the water is much softer than it was before.
Improvements: There is carpeting now, and the landlord is either going to replace it or (hopefully) discover hardwood underneath and make that happen.
Outdoors: There is a large maple tree in the front yard. In the back there is parking for one. Two spots *could* be negotiated. The porch is on the second floor, which is nice if you like to sunbathe or the like. Part of it is covered, which is nice for a clothesline.
I'm looking for people with whom I can really _live_ and develop a relationship with, but also people who will be respectful of the space and will understand that, as a graduate student, I need my home to be a place where I can work. I am friendly, generally cheerful, politically liberal, and queer friendly. I have one cat already and plan to get another one, but if you have cats as well something can be negotiated. No smokers or heavy drinkers, please.
If you have other questions or would just like to meet me and/or possibly see the place, you can leave a comment here or email me at gelflinggirl@gmail.com
