So, I found myself in a similar boat several years ago, and wrote a filk about it, to the tune of TMBG's "Where do they make balloons" (http://kdsorceress.livejournal.com/387057.html).
This isn't actually helpful, but yeah. I'm excited to have something relevant to link.
(Also I think I found a bunch in Stellabella. My best kazoo was a freebie from Hot Topic for contributing to their save the music campaign. That's right. I have a goth kazoo.)
Depends on if you want a piece of junk some stores call a kazoo or a really good kazoo.
IMHO, the Hohner plastic kazoo (straight, no bumps) is the best standard kazoo. http://www.guitarcenter.com/Hohner-Kazoo-420558-i1133577.gc
Kazoo Co from Eden, NY used to be the best, but their metal work has really gone to hell in the last 10 years or so. And if it has the 3 little bumps on it pretending to be valves, leave it where it is.
The best you can get for sale nowadays without getting one custom-made is the Toycraft Barrel kazoo. It's loud, solid, and a fine piece of work. http://www.toycrafter.com/kazoos/kazoos.htm
Give Wood & Strings a call, they are the most likely to have what you want.
I don't know where to get a GOOD kazoo. I'm sure you can get a bag of plastic kazoos at a dollar store, or iParty. OTOH, if you are looking for a REAL kazoo, one that will last, then yeah look at music shops.
Or You could just MAKE one. there are instructions on the net.
