Can anyone recommend singing lessons in the area? I'm a complete beginner (I've got musical training but my singing is pretty bad), and I just want to learn some techniques. Thanks, DS!
I'm a professional mezzo-soprano and I teach classical voice, both out of my home studio in Melrose, MA and via area "house-calls". I sing a mix of opera, oratorio, and art song and I'd be thrilled to give you a tour of the basics. Feel free to message me via LJ if you'd like to discuss further!
This isn't quite as close by, but I had a good experience with Page Music Lessons, which is near Hynes Convention Center in Boston. They're flexible and reasonably priced, and you can take only a small number of lessons if that's what you'd prefer.
I'm a classical singer who's heading to school next fall for her Master's degree, and I live in Somerville (the Teele Square area, to be exact.) I teach out of my apartment, which is easily T-accessible, and (gasp) has parking!
Drop me a line if you're interested! e-mail is ktorly at gmail dot com.
I'm an amateur musician and singer, and what I've always been told is that while individual singing lessons can be great, for a beginners choral singing can be a great help as well (and often more bang for your buck). Maybe also look into that?
