DAVIS SQUARE FARMERS' MARKET OPENS!

I wanted to announce to everyone that the Davis Square Farmers' Market opens tomorrow, May 25th, at 12:00pm and will run until 6:00pm. This market runs in the parking lot at Day and Herbert Streets (right across from Sacco's).

There will be baked goods, cheese, beef, flowers, and veggies. Hopefully there will be some yummy asparagus as well.

There is also a new farmers' market that will be opening in Union Square on June 11th. That market will run from 9:00am - 1:00pm on Saturdays.

Come and support local farmers while eating well.

the david square market will run from 5/25 until 11/23. that will be the last market of the season.

in May, June, and October the hours will be 12-6. in July, August and September the hours will be 12 - 6:30.
and in November the market will generally close at 5, however, that has not been set in stone yet.

peaches aren't going to be available for a while though, sadly. i can't wait until they are. those are some of the best peaches i've ever had.

It's great that the market is opening, but I'm sad because the Wed 12-6 hours prevents most of us with a day job in Boston or outside the area from shopping at the market. I might be able to squeek in for the last 10 minutes if the T isn't delayed, but by then most everything will gone. Is there any way the market could be open early morning hours too? I'd get up early to go, and I'm sure i'm not the only 9-to-5er who would...

That is why the hours were extended until 6:30pm from July through September. The vendors are also allowed to sell as they back up, so that 6 or 6:30pm time is not a hard and fast rule.

We can't just open up the market in the early hours. I'm sorry, I would if I could. For the location, we are not able to open it earlier by city order. However, if you check out the website there may be markets closer to your work, and you can also make the attempt to get to market within the hours. For example, there is a market at Boston City Hall on Mondays and Wednesdays from 11-6 or there is Copley on Tuesdays and Fridays 11-6.

However, that is the reason the hours have been extended, farmers are allowed to sell as they back up... and there is also the Union Square Market which opens on June 11th (which is a Saturday morning market) from 9am-1pm.

The vendors can still sell while they are packing up their tables which means that some will still be there packing up after the official close of the market.
