Note: I'm not complaining.

However, I haven't seen anything here about new rules regarding people with clipboards in Davis. Have rules changed? Is that why there are no longer people accosting me trying to get me to save the whales, or poor people in Uganda, or Alabama, or vote for someone when I just want to get some coffee?

still plenty of them in downtown Boston, so it's not a statewide thing if there is a ban.

C'mon over to Kendall, plenty of 'em over there around 6:00-6:30 in the afternoon.

First: your icon rules. :) :)

Second: yeah, they were there Sat morning. Can't remember if they were there Sun morning (I was heading back from the road race, but I can't remember).

maybe they're just waiting for the weather to get better.

No, they were definitely out there at least 2 different days this past week. Maybe Friday and Saturday?

As irritating as usual.

I definitely saw some this weekend. Saturday, I think, outside Starbucks.

Maybe because the students are gone?

Save the Children's fund definitely asked me "Do you like children?" on Saturday. I was also followed by someone from Boston Sports Club with a clipboard asking if I wanted a membership - I already have a membership and him following me made me want to give up that membership. He then followed another woman who went into the bathroom at Anna's and as soon as she came out (I was in line for a burrito) asked if she wanted a membership. Seriously - that can't be ok.

I love children, but I can never eat a whole one.

Love this! As awful as it sounds I always reply "no" when they ask me that question, may have to start using your response :)

I'm always tempted to reply, "No, I hate children, polar bears, whales, and the environment." But then, I get cranky because I work in an area where I'm accosted by people with clipboards nearly every time I leave my office.

I have said "no, i hate children", with my two children in tow. Other times I say "I've already saved these two" or "haven't killed these ones yet".

I really hate being constantly asked to donate money any time I walk through the square.

I always ask if they have a petition, and when they say no, I say that I'll go to the website if I want to donate. I did the petitioning thing and it sucked because everybody thought I was trying to get donations, so I always make sure to ask first.

On the one hand, I feel really bad blowing them off because I did that for like a day and was treated like shit. On the other hand, I hate being accosted for donations and absolutely will not give money to random people with clipboards at this point.

Once upon a time ago, I was at Quincy Station and there was a petitioner. I read the entire petition and then handed it back because it called for some change in how state government is run, but I didn't know enough to actually sign-it. The guy said thanks for wasting my time while running-off to get someone else. So unfortunately some petitioners are asses too.

Oh, yeah, I know that much. I just meant I might sign a petition, but I'd never sign up with someone on the street to give money.

It's because they're all accosting me.

I actively dive into the street to avoid them. That will eventually get me killed and I know my will has 0 money allotted for the children.
