June 2-3: FIGMENT Boston!
Can you believe only 10 days from now our second FIGMENT event of 2012 will transform Boston’s Rose Kennedy Greenway into a large-scale collaborative artwork? Official submissions are closed... but we still invite you to bring your projects to FIGMENT! Please note that any project that is not registered must be hand-carried, and will not be mapped, scheduled, or have access to power. But we invite everyone to bring their art projects, social experiments, games, toys, dancing feet, picnic lunches, friends, robots, creative energy, gnomes, unicorns, and anything else you might love and want to share with the world! So, what are you bringing? For more information on bringing your project to FIGMENT Boston, please see the Artist FAQ and What to Bring pages.

What: FIGMENT Boston 2012
When: Saturday, June 2, 11AM – 11PM / Sunday, June 3, 11AM – 6PM
Where: the Rose Kennedy Greenway in Boston
Tickets: FREE!

For those who don't know, FIGMENT is kind of like a more family friendly, less sex, drugs, and fire version of Burning Man. It's a lot of fun!

Unfortunately I can't be there, but you can go and enjoy it!

(Oh, and I should let you know that I can't reply in the comments, as LJ kind of broke their submission button for some of us in the recent changes to the site. So if I don't answer you, don't take it personally. :-)

If you ever visited or participated in Occupy Boston, Figment occupies the same space (and the parks north from Dewey Square towards Quincy Market). It probably involves some of the same people, too.

Last year, the SCULimpics were held at Figment. I don't know if they plan a repeat this year.

In response to my query, Figment Boston Communications told me: "SCUL did not submit a project this year, although we hope many of them will stop by."

ETA: And Skunk e-mailed me that "we plan on attending, but we're not hosting any games."

I talked with one of the SCUL organizers, and he said that while they won't have an official presence, they do plan to stop by at some point.
