Maybe I missed the discussion, but has anyone else read/heard about this new restaurant? where is it going to be? (Quoted from Boston.com)

"A new restaurant focusing on Southern-style dishes is opening soon in Davis Square.
M3 will be opened by Jason Owens, one of the persons behind upscale comfort food places like Local 149 in South Boston (pictured). According to Grub Street Boston, menu items will include chicken and waffles, oyster po'boys, and pig's ear sandwiches"

I just noticed the Abita sign in Alfresco's window, so was going to guess that's where this was going.

Dammit, this is literally around the corner and I have to move. :(

Wait, this is going to be called Abita, not M3?

Abita is a beer, I believe from Louisiana...Do they have a liquor license?

They said they would have a small selection of tap beers, as well as canned, so.. I have to assume so? Seems kinda foolish to say 'WE HAVE BEER!' when they don't.

Abita is a brewing company from Louisiana. I'm guessing they'll sell Abita beer. (which made me :D, because Abita Amber is mighty tasty!)

Grub Street has some more info. I'll miss Alfresco.

Looks like this will be their website, but there's not much to see yet.

Probably because nobody ever ate there. ;)

I ate there and liked it a lot. I was excited for this new place too. Wish we could have both.

... especially given that the sign in their window implied they were "closed for renovations," not "closed because we're getting replaced by southern comfort food." Bummer.

Yes, that sign greeted our family as we stood there on Mother's Day, having made reservations weeks before.....

Oh yay. I will take my wife there so she can scoff. According to her, the closest Northeners get to legitimate Southern cooking is Old Country Buffet. Don't get her started on BBQ.

As somebody who grew up in both New England and the South (Chattanooga area), most "legitimate Southern cooking" IS Old Country Buffet.
