Rosebud Diner closing? Somerville Scout says yes, Wicked Local says no

Somerville Scout published an online article today: Owner's Son: Rosebud Diner to Close. Not much detail here.

The Scout article repeats "rumors in the past" that Tasty Burger might come in, but does not confirm them. Here's a DSLJ post about that from last February. I've heard elsewhere that Tasty Burger has decided to move to Harvard Square instead.

ETA: The Wicked Local (Somerville Journal) blog says no, Rosebud is not closing.

Tasty Burger is opening in the former 7-11 next to the Harvard Garage.

Sounds to me like the owner needs to let someone else take the reins of the Rosebud.

Unless I'm forgetting one, for now, there isn't a 24/7 convenience store. I've heard that the 7-11 is pretty much stripped bare at this point.

I think the CVS on the same block as the Coop is open 24 hours. I have no idea why the other CVS (on JFK Street) even exists.

ETA: Done. I considered deleting this post entirely, but decided instead to just link to the conflicting articles and let the reader figure out whom to believe.

Hi all - Adam here from Somerville Scout. The issue, as best I can tell, isn't who to believe between Somerville Scout and Somerville Journal. We each talk to different sources. The question is, who to believe: father (Gally) or son (Bill) of the Nichols family. When I chatted with Bill earlier today, he was clearly upset with his father, for what that's worth.

One thing to note: The Journal did amend their article in a separate blog post earlier this afternoon, but the one you link to here says that the Scout article said Bill Nichols told the staff Rosebud would close. I'd just like to clarify that we did not report that, nor did Bill say that. He told us Rosebud would be moving on, and then did not offer any details, which is all we reported.

Again, I can assure you that what I wrote is what I was told by Bill Nichols. The Journal does a very good job and I have no doubt they, too, are reporting accurately. The question, then, isn't who to believe between Scout or the Journal so much as it is between Gally and Bill Nichols.

Unless I'm misunderstanding you, you absolutely did report that Bill Nichols said the rosebud would close. It's in black and white right here: http://www.somervillescout.com/2012/06/rosebud-diner-to-close/ . Both the headline and the first paragraph say it point blank.

Am I misunderstanding your comment here?

That's OK, it confused me the first few times I read it too!
