Hello All,

Someone decided to give my convertible's soft top a "sunroof" while I was parked on the street. Now I need a new soft top and would like to have some roll bars installed. Does anyone know a good autobody place that is local?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That sucks.

I love the guys at Arco Tire and Body, up in Teele square. They're fantastic.

Dick's on Elmwood St has done awesome things for my car.

Yep - I've dealt with Dick's twice, and it's been a pleasant experience. Not 100% delighted with the color match on our car, but you have to know you're looking for it to notice - so I can't say the experience was perfect. I also recommended them to someone else who came away very happy.

Mac's Auto Body on Russell St. was excellent when I used them.

Ouch! That really stinks. =( Someone recently keyed a huge section of my car just outside of Davis Square, so I'm also seeking body shop recommendations.

If you haven't already checked it, Yelp has some helpful reviews of auto body shops in the area.

I've already gotten an estimate from Dick's - they're definitely not the cheapest if you're paying out of pocket, but a lot of people seem to like them, and their shop is littered with high end luxury imports, which I take as a good sign. I'm a bit nervous about the caveats I've seen, though. "They're great but the color didn't quite match" isn't what I want to read when I'm looking to repaint half my car!

I'll report back with my thoughts after visiting a couple more shops on Monday.

Ditto on Mac's Auto Repair. Repaired back brake light and bumper from where another car hit mine, Fast, professional, reasonable price.

We go to Alewife Auto with George on Alewife Brook Parkway. The man is a saint and does great work - the one time I wasn't satisfied he cut the price, gave me two free oil changes and next thing I need done to my car will be heavily discounted. He was embarrassed! I was appreciative and he is the best.

Al and the crew at ABJ are great. Highly recommended.

BTW, this is why a lot of people with convertibles don't lock their doors. Something to consider...
