[EDIT] It's been taken away! Thanks, to whomever it was!

There is an old (as in, the kind that catches waves from the air, but probably less than 10 years old) tv in the stairwell of the apartment I just moved into. Nobody in the building knows its origin or wants it. It's VERY heavy. It's a biggie too, 26" diagonal.

So.

What to do with it? Someone said there needed to be a special permit and some special arrangements that had to be made to take big weird electronics.

If anyone wants it, let me know! It even has the remote!

On Willow Ave.

Call 311 at least 24 hours before your regular trash pickup day and tell them you are putting it out. Then put it out next to your trash.

You do not need to obtain any special permit or pay a fee. Official information on trash procedures is here.

ETA: Instead of calling 311 you can also fill out this form.

Glad to hear that. Whoever took is will now need a digital-to-analog converter to actually watch anything on it.

Unless of course they had entirely different plans for it.

Indeed. Though the number of discarded TVs I see around town suggests that only a limited number of people are interested in disassembling or repurposing them.

There are other uses that don't require a DAC.
