Redbones funeral?

Earlier today, two brass bands congregated on the front porch of the Redbones' owner's house (corner of Chester & Orchard Streets) and played New Orleans standards. It sure sounded like a jazz funeral. Anyone know what was going on?

A Facebook friend just informed me that this morning was the funeral of Poppy Gregory, the mother of Redbones' owner Robert Gregory.

ETA: Here's an obituary. She died last Friday. There was a wake at her house on Sunday, and a funeral in Arlington and a barbecue lunch at Robert Gregory's house today (Monday).

She was a presence at the May Day morning celebrations in Cambridge for decades. I'm sorry to hear that she's gone.

ahh, memory eternal poppy. i was happy to be her neighbor for a few years. i'm glad fr. kastanas at the arlington church was able to officiate at her wake.
