I haven't lived in Somerville for about 4 years now and yet I am STILL getting text messages from bbconnect. I have emailed their address, texted them back -- over and over and over -- and yet they keep coming.

What the heck kind of elaborate ritual must I perform to have them stop sending me these text messages?

[edit] alllll set, thanks to the marvelous Tom Champion!

What is bbconnect?

If this is the Tom Champion text messaging system, have you tried calling Somerville 311 at 617-666-3311 from your cellphone?

And if that doesn't work, my next step would be to call Somerville City Hall at 617-625-6600 and ask for Tom directly.

It is what used to be known as Connect-CTY.

I'm sorry you haven't been able to get dropped from the distribution list. Most of the time we get it done on the first request. 311 can take the info over the phone. (As Ron correctly notes, it's 617-666-3311 from outside Somerville.)
But if you'd prefer, you can go here to send me an email (http://www.somervillema.gov/departments/communications/press) with your phone number and I will personally scrub the database.

I think it took me a couple calls to 311 but they eventually got it sorted.

If it becomes particularly frustrating, take them to small claims court for violating the TCPA.

The folks who have gotten in touch with me as a result of this thread have been removed from the database.

[livejournal.com profile] ron_newman: The company that created Connect CTY was acquired by Blackboard, and they rebranded the service as Blackboard Connect.

[livejournal.com profile] sparr0: Small claims court? Seems kinda harsh -- and, as I hope I have demonstrated, unneccessary.
