You guys, seriously, Somerville has the greatest fireworks ever.

This was my second year seeing them, and just... omg. I can't even. They are so, so good.

Thanks to everyone involved, including each and every one of you who's paid taxes in the 'ville; all the police, firemen, EMTs and the like working out there tonight and every night; all our various governmenty and organizey people who make events like this possible; and of course to all veterans. Happy 28th of June4th of July : )

This is the first year in a while that I haven't been able to just look out my apartment windows and see them, because I moved. (I could hear them though)

I agree, Somerville does a really good job with the fireworks.

It's a wonderful street party, too. Thank you Mayor Joe for reviving this old city tradition.

this is the first year i actually got to see them - as i now live right across the street - and yes, they were very satisfying fireworks. i really enjoyed them. and i'm impressed at how fast spectators cleared out, and how fast people took down the stage and cleaned up!

I watch them from my front balcony. Pretty impressive, especially this year.

I was amazed by how good they were. They just... kept... going! With live soundtrack by the Air Force Band!

Apparently they were mostly paid for by donations from NSTAR. This doesn't make up for tearing up our street and yard for the last few months, guys, but apology accepted!

That was a live soundtrack? I could not tell from where I was standing.

Yeah, they are great fireworks. I was so excited for them too. I get all misty-eyed for our city every year at our June fireworks. =)

Eh, I see nothing snarkworthy in simple happiness. Maybe I'm just not cynical enough.

We couldn't see them from our deck because of houses in the way, but we managed to see them nicely from the bottom of the street, down near the Mystic. Lovely!

It was definitely the actual Air Force Band up there on the bandstand. When the speakers cut out halfway through for a few moments, I could still see & hear the band playing.

Cool! At one point, Stars & Stripes Forever seemed to end in the middle of a measure.

! :D Especially the end, IT WAS AMAZING. Also I had no idea, but I went out to Tull Field (I live about 3/4 mi from Davis) and I was like "Why are there bugs on me? There's bugs on me!" NOPE. Ash. I was so close I was covered in ash. WHAT. XD Amaze.

I will admit that I snarked here about the fireworks the first couple of years that I lived in Somerville; in my defense, I had a small child at the time, and the fireworks absolutely terrified him, being unbelievably loud because we live so close to Trum Field. And I didn't realize at the time that they are always on the Thursday before July 4th, and that was before we had things like Twitter and 311 to remind/warn us about these things, so it took me by surprise several years running. I'm calmer about it now that I can't be caught unawares any more, and also now that my kids are old enough to enjoy it instead of cowering in fear. Last night was the first time we actually stayed at Trum Field to watch the show, and it was great. A fun street party and a fantastic fireworks show, definitely much more enjoyable than watching it from our back yard (where we can't see the ones that are closer to the ground). The kids were severely dragging this morning on account of being up so late, but what the heck, it's summer.

I just moved to Broadway a month ago and I was so excited to be able to have a roof fireworks-viewing party! It was my first year seeing the show in Somerville and I was not disappointed! :)

I usually view them from my roof and totally enjoy this Somerville tradition. This time I found myself at Louie's having ice cream with a friend. So we and other patrons at Louie's stood on sidewalk looking down Broadway and watched the fireworks while we enjoyed our ice cream.
