Starting September, we'll have a room opening in our Somerville apartment, near Davis Square, Teele Square, and Tufts.
Who we are: Two males (a sysadmin who likes playing with swords and theater equipment, and a software engineer who likes playing with insects and cameras) and two females (a University of New Hampshire post doc who likes martial arts and has dabbled in tango, and a production person who is starting a career in publishing and likes belly-dance, martial arts, and sci-fi.)
The insect-loving software engineer and the martial-arts-loving post doc are recently married, and will be sharing a room in our four-bedroom apartment. The post-doc will be living part-time in New Hampshire.
We're very sociable, often hang out in common space, and hold regular social gatherings (though not of the loud drunken sort). We are interested in maintaining a strong household community, with open communication channels and shared responsibility in terms of chores. We do not currently have television in common space, and would like to keep it that way.
Small pets negotiable, but note that one of us has a fur allergy. The house is non-smoking.
We are alternative-lifestyles and queer-friendly.

The apartment: The apartment is the upstairs unit in a two-family house on a residential street. One bathroom. Hardwood floors throughout. We have a front balcony accessible through the living room window (also accessible from the room that's opening up) and a screened-in back porch accessible through the kitchen. We share the back yard with the downstairs neighbors. Full kitchen, with dishwasher and gas stove. Laundry (high efficiency washer and dryer, not coin-op) is in the pantry. Basement opens onto back yard and is great for bicycle parking.
The open room is 12.5 x 10 feet (3.8 x 3 m), and faces south, with a door onto our front balcony. The room does not contain a closet, but closet space is available across the hall. Rent for the room is $450, plus utilities (electric, gas, internet).
