Hi guys, I'm trying to find a place in the Davis/Porter area that has beer and air-conditioning and won't mind a bunch of knitters hanging out and drinking. (My favorite option is Mike's, but I don't think they have airco.) Any suggestions?

Apologies for having no idea at all which tag to use for this. . .

Out of curiosity, is this event going to be open or private? (I have to ask, since you are combining two of my favorite things.)

Foundry might work, depending on the time and day of the week.

I don't really have any suggestions, but if this is an open event, I'd love to hear about it :-)

A while ago, we did it at Club Cafe downtown. Why does that matter? I'm guessing if you called to reserve a table at a bar/pub-type joint and said that people would be drinking/eating, the bar would be fine with it. Just don't do it during prime hours, i.e. maybe a little earlier in the day, and you should do okay.

And let everyone know. I miss a knitting group. :)

Gather Here (http://www.gatherhereonline.com/) (which is a mild but nontrivial walk from either of Central or Harvard) hosts "Pints and Purls" every other week, which is Thursday evening and BYOB. Not quite what you asked for, but possibly of interest?

Friends of mine have done this at The Burren in the past so I think it's okay there. I assume it's fine anywhere as long as you're buying drinks!

I'm pretty sure the Spirit folks doesn't much care what you do, as long as you're ordering :-D The front area can fit a good-sized group.

I have done this in the bar area of Sabur. They have an odd habit of never beeing too busy. And in any case, if you are drinking, and/or snacking, any place should be glad for your patronage =)

I haven't been there in ages, but maybe Frank's Steakhouse? They definitely have beer, for a sufficiently weak definition of beer, and I'm pretty sure they have AC, and probably have room for a large party.
