Is anyone else having Comcast internet trouble? Two nights ago, I turned on the computer and Norton told me that it was detecting a new network and asked me which settings to use. Since then, I have not been able to access websites or connect to remote mail servers, AIM, anything.

My computer claims everything's connected, but I'm still not getting anything!

Any thoughts from other Comcast folks?

We are not having any problems at all. That doesnt' sound especially like Comcast, that sounds more like wireless problems, if you use it. Other than that I don't know.

My comcast is fine. Norton? What OS are you using and are you using a wireless connection? If you are using wireless it may have just reconnected to the strongest open network signal.

I'm assuming that you are obtaining your IP address from the router automatically? Try typing ipconfig from a cmd prompt and see what pops up. You may need to log into the router and have it renew it's IP lease and make sure that DHCP is turned on. The router IP address is what's listed under Gateway on your ipconfig printout.

By this I take it that the wireless laptops are working ?!? Look on the back of your computer where the network cable enters. There should be two lights, one solid and the other blinking. Are they doing this? Try disconnecting the cable and reseating it to see if you can get the 'link' light. There should also be a 'link' light on your router. It will have a number next to it corresponding to the port that you plugged your cable into. Both should be on and solid, the 'activity' light next to it should blink whenever your computer tries to get/send data.

If both ends have link lights then it's probably something to do with your IP address config. Without the information that ipconfig displays I cannot help you.

I use Comcast and have a wireless router and it's been fine...even when I took it downstairs and sat outside on the porch...and I live on the 3rd floor...
BUT, the TV's been kinda wonky lately.
