Live Music! Food trucks! Fireworks! Edsels! What's not to like?

Is it the last gasp of summer or the first big street party of the fall?  Who cares? It's free, it's fun and it's a great way to get a foretaste of Assembly Row and a preview of  the soon-to-be-transformed Mystic riverfront.

Riverfest has always been an engaging, family-friendly event, but this year's version has expanded its hours and broadened its appeal. The celebration starts midday on Saturday, September 15th (rain day is Sunday) and culminates at 8 p.m. with some serious fireworks over the river. Details here.

I do not see 'Colossians' listed for that time slot -- the schedule shows 'Fantastic Liars' from 3 to 4 pm.

And after you've had enough of live bands, food trucks, and fireworks, come on down to near Union Square for Project MUM (Meet Under McGrath)!

Members of SCUL, Somerville's long-term friendly chopper bicycle nerd gang, will be collaborating with the Somerville Arts Council to present you this ArtsUnion event. Working with local artists and performers in the Greater Somerville area, we are excited to present you the 2012 edition of this well-loved outdoor dance party: Meet Under McGrath.

This year's theme will be: SPACE. We welcome costumes and props related to planets, stars, astronauts, rockets, spaceships, robots, aliens and more! Too busy to get all dressed up? Just wear your dancing shoes and come boogie.

The event runs from 9 pm to 1 am.

I loved the music and fireworks, but what happened to the Edsels? They were nowhere to be seen when I arrived around 6 pm. Some folks told me that the Edsels were driven away from the event at 2 pm.
