There's no Illuminations Tour for Halloween, but a lot of folks do decorate their houses pretty elaborately, so a friend and I are planning to take our kids for an informal drive around town tomorrow night and check out some displays. I've already spotted one on Walnut Street and one on Orchard Street that looked impressive in daylight and probably even more so by night. Can you recommend any other houses/streets/areas? Thanks!

Might be what you're talking about already, but two houses on Chester Street at the corner of Orchard have tons of spiders/webs, etc up.

I think the house at the SW corner of Chester and Orchard belongs to Rob Gregory, owner of Redbones. The next house on Chester south of it also joins in on the decorations.

ETA: and now the house next door on Orchard Street has also gotten into the act!

There's a cute one that's lit up at night at the upper end of Willow.

Lexington St is famous for lots of displays (and an intense trick-or-treating scene). There's also a house at the bottom end of Highland Rd that's always elaborately decorated for something or other, Halloween no exception.

... but do it on Halloween itself, if the weather forecast is any good, as at least some houses there wait to decorate.

Yes, Lexington Ave is a great place for trick-or-treating. We live on one of the adjoining side streets, and the 100-200 kids we get are just the _overflow_ from Lexington.

there's also Dudley Street in North Cambridge (the street off Mass Ave, Greek Corner is at the corner of it, one block in). They shut down the block and all the neighbors choose a theme and decorate their houses accordingly. It's pretty crazy, though, and has been too overstimulating in the past for my little ones. Not sure if they decorate early, though...

Springfield St. over by Inman is also very Halloween-oriented (though not quite so close to Davis)

10 Milton, off of Orchard, is good.

While in the Davis Square neighborhood, check out the storefront displays of Goodwill, Found, and CVS (the last of which is sponsored by the Somerville Arts Council).
