I'm still looking for a roommate or two, and now that I've moved in to the apartment myself I have a much better idea of what it's like and so forth. It's near Waterhouse & Broadway. Anyone interested? Also, other than Craigslist, do you have any suggestions where else to look for roommates?
More details:
It's a 2-3 bedroom apartment, and I'm looking for 1-2 people to share it. Available immediately, but the landlord has to approve you too. The lease runs through the end of August 2013.
About the apartment & location:
* Rent will be $945/person if there are two of us or $630/person if there are three of us. Utilities are extra; gas and electricity average $160/month total according to the numbers I was given. I'm not sure about the internet yet, but I think it will be about $50/month total after the initial promotional price expires (right now it's more like $30).
* Apartment has wood floors, kitchen is bigger than I expected, and there's a ceiling fan in the dining room.
* Free washer and dryer in the basement are reserved for use by the first-floor apartment (that's us).
* Walkscore.com gives the location an 82, "Very Walkable."
* It's a block and a half from a Johnny's Foodmaster supermarket (though as we all just learned, it's likely to be closing soon--I really hope another supermarket comes in!), and the same distance from a bus stop for the 87, 88, & 89. The 87 & 88 run right into Davis Square, handy for the Red Line.
* It's about a 15 minute walk to Davis Square, and you go through Teele Square on the way.
* There's a Zipcar lot around the corner, and another about three blocks away.
* There's one parking spot behind the building, but it's first-come first-served for the whole three-unit building. (I won't be one of the ones fighting for it, though, I don't own a car.)
About me:
* I'd like to live with someone who wants to live with other people, not just someone who wants to be able to split rent. I'm not looking for a best friend, but a friendly connection would be nice.
* I'd like us to discuss chores and figure out something that works for both/all of us--letting things slide until one person gets fed up and cleans it all doesn't work well for me.
* I have one cat, and I need him to be the only pet. He likes being around his people but isn't much of a lap cat. He has all his claws, and I trim them regularly. He doesn't use them on people, but I haven't managed to completely train him not to try to sharpen his claws on the furniture. :-( I don't think he'll damage anything, but I thought I'd better mention it in case you have an heirloom sofa or something.
* I work full-time in downtown Boston (or at least I will soon--my job starts next Monday).
* I'm geeky and Pagan and poly. I'm queer-friendly. I'm a once-and-future morris dancer. I'm not interested in recreational drugs or alcohol; I don't mind if you do them in moderation, but I'm not comfortable with any illegal substances in the apartment. I have a ton of books, some of which will be on shelves in the shared parts of the apartment. (You're welcome to read them too.) I don't like having a TV on all the time and would prefer not to have one in our shared space at all, though having a TV isn't a dealbreaker for me. I'm friendly but go through introverted phases. I have a sweetie who will visit sometimes, but you don't have to worry that he'll be over all the time--he's allergic to my cat. :-) I have some tendencies toward clutter in my own space, but I'm good about picking up after myself in shared space. (The kitchen won't usually be as messy as in the picture!)
* I'm female and in my mid-thirties.
