Hi everyone. As promised I wanted to mention my business that I am opening up at 862 Broadway (at Powder House Circle) , in the space that was previously Mass Metta Massage. My website can be found here.
Some of you may remember me from the Mountain Strength morning Bootcamp classes down at Dilboy Park, I've now branched out on my own, and have been serving a client base for a good while now out of a gym in Central Square. I live in Somerville, and have realized so do most of my clients, so I started tentatively looking for space in the area. Thanks to a mutual client, I found out that Emily was leaving her space (Mass Metta Massage) and moving into the new O2 Yoga studio down on Mass Ave between Harvard and Central Squares, and so here I am!
To explain the name, Girya is the Russian word for Kettlebell, and Scope works to describe the holistic approach I try to take with all of my clients. I mainly train with kettlebells (cannon balls with handles is the best apt physical description) but I also do restorative movement classes, bodyweight strength movements, and plyometrics as well. I'll have no machines in my space, save perhaps an erg rower eventually, and will be mostly one on one training with a few small group classes at peak times in the morning, lunch, and evening. Once it's nicer again I do hope to have a morning outdoor class in Powder House Park, and I'll announce that when we're closer to Spring (unless we have a winter like last year, then I'll just start up classes outside immediately ;) )
I have a hearing coming up this Wednesday, November 7th with the ZBA for the change of use of my space from Medical Massage to Personal Training, as well as the often discussed Parking Waiver. The staff report is quite favorable, but if you'd like to stop by, I'd always appreciate the support. After that point, hopefully I can apply for my Certificate of Occupancy (at risk for 20 days) and have a grand opening at the beginning of December which I'd love to see you all at. I'm very excited to be opening my own business in the Somerville/Davis area, and look forward to hopefully having some of you as clients!
