purple "christmas" lights on curb

I've put a couple of strands of purple christmas-style lights out on the curb at 56 Ossipee Rd. A section of at least one of the strands isn't working.  There are some spare bulbs in the bag but we couldn't figure out how to fix them.  Garbage is Monday.
