Johnnie's Foodmaster at Broadway and Alewife Brook Parkway had a 'Last 3 Days' sign up today. The shelves are getting pretty empty, and people inside confirmed that Saturday will be their last day of business. Liquidation discounts are at least 40% now.
At Somerville Patch, it looks like some folks are putting together a funeral vigil for the store, taking place Saturday at 10 am. If enough folks show up for that, it might send a useful message to other grocery chains that customers want to continue shopping at this location.
(and by the way - they have a lot of Mary Jane candies for sale. Anyone from PMRP want to grab it for resale at future shows?)

Date: 2012-11-17 05:37 am (UTC)It's going to be ridiculously inconvenient in comparison to how it used to be (I live a block from the Alewife Foodmaster) but at least there are options.
