The Boston Breakers are returning to Dilboy Stadium for 2013. They have joined a new league, the National Women's Soccer League, which is supported by the US Soccer Federation as well as the federations of Mexico and Canada. That means each team will (generally) have 3 players from the US National Team pool as well as 2 each from the Canadian & Mexican pools. Most of the big name players will be playing in the NWSL in 2013.

The 2013 schedule has just been released and here's a link to the Breakers' home games:

Capacity at Dilboy has been expanded to 3500 for the season. The team last year sold out all its home games, averaging about 2300 per game.

Players have been allocated and the draft and free agent signings have mostly been completed. Notable players on the Breakers preseason roster include:

Heather O'Reilly (US National Team with 3 Olympic golds)
Heather Mitts (US National Team with 3 Olympic golds)
Sydney Leroux (US National Team with 1 Olympic gold)
Kyah Simon (Australian National Team & top Breakers scorer in 2012)
Cecilia Santiago (Mexican National Team)
Anisa Guajardo (Mexican National Team)
Rhian Wilkinson (Canadian National Team)
Adriana Leon (Canadian National Team)
Lianne Sanderson (English National Team)
Joanna Lohman
Kia McNeill
Returning players Katie Schoepfer, Jess Luscinski, Cat Whitehill and Bianca D'Agostino.

Other players from the 2012 WPSL Elite Breakers have moved elsewhere with anchor Leslie Osborne deciding to sign with Chicago and Courtney Jones and Melissa Henderson ending up in Kansas City. Elli Reed is heading to Seattle and Taryn Hemmings is also set for Chicago.

Some of the more recognizable opponent players, such as Alex Morgan (Portland), Abby Wambach (Western NY) and Hope Solo (Seattle), will visit Dilboy, once  for Seattle and twice for the other two teams.

The return of the Breakers means Somerville hosts 3 professional-level women's teams: the Boston Militia (football), the Boston Blades (ice hockey) and the Breakers.
