Everyone here knows about the Somerville Winter Farmers' Market at the Armory (Saturdays, 9:30-2).
But there's another, much smaller market, here in West Somerville. It's called the Somerville Mobile Farmers' Market. It happens every Saturday from 10 am to 1 pm at the North Street Community Room, 268A Powder House Blvd. It is sponsored by Groundwork Somerville and Shape Up Somerville. Produce is from Enterprise Farm.
Both markets run through Saturday, April 13.

Date: 2013-03-07 04:54 pm (UTC)I too was disappointed that he no longer takes compost. He said too many people were putting plastic bags in, and it was a pain to remove them.
This page describes what sounds like a free compost collection service for Somerville. I haven't tried signing up for it yet.
The Community Growing Center on Vinal Ave. also takes compost. But you have to take a short mandatory class there, and I haven't yet done that either.

Date: 2013-03-07 04:58 pm (UTC)It just felt kind wonky to me.
(also, from what I can tell of that compost fb page, it's recommending bootstrap, which is not free.)

Date: 2013-03-07 05:01 pm (UTC)I think the 'Compost This!' guy is different from Bootstrap. He's collecting compost from folks like us and depositing it at the Growing Center. If I see him at the Maple Syrup Boil-Down this Saturday I'll ask him more about it.

Date: 2013-03-07 07:26 pm (UTC)I just get frustrated that two Somerville and one Cambridge winter market are all on Saturdays, none on Sundays.
The other winter markets I know of are in Newton (Tuesday), Brookline (Sunday), and Dorchester (also Sunday). All of which are a bit far on foot with veggies.
