I need a few pallets (no more than 4) for a gardening project. Anyone know a good local source to pick them up? (Preferable free, of course..) I need to schedule it a little since I'll have to rent a zip-van, but I can be fairly flexible.

Thanks!

Many pallets, especially those used for outdoor shipping and receiving, are made of treated wood that would be Very Bad to have in contact with any ground you plan to grow plants in.

acq is the most common pt wood and is harmless (also, having lots of farmers in my extended family, it's also pretty much ubiquitous in all agricultural applications). I think most pallets are untreated though--they are made to be disposable.

pallets! try uhauls as well. I get these mini ones from a memorial (grave) stone company nearby, I think almost all businesses have more trouble getting rid of them than anything.

sorry to spam, one thing I have noticed are more pallets being made with plywood strips, which id be wary of
