street cleaning resumes

I learned the hard way that street cleaning has resumed in Somerville. I could have sworn I was on a mailing list that warns about street cleaning (the one that replaced bostonstreetsweeper). Did anyone else receive a warning email this week?

I saw flyers on the windshields of cars on Medford Street outside of Magoun Square. I don't know if this was the City or concerned neighbors. There was no reverse 311 call or email that I received from City Connect.

Fliers were placed two days running on cars parked on Broadway outside of Magoun Square as well.

I still forgot to move my car and got a lovenote from the city.

Ah well, my own damned fault.

I just this minute got a robocall from Jackie telling me sweet cleaning resumes this week. Also just this minute received an SMS reminder. Too little too late I say !!

No, actually, it isn't. It's on most of them, but I've seen more than one without any indication about the times of year it applies.

Also, do you read the signs near your house every time you park? Most people don't and sometimes they forget to make the connection between the date and the start of sweeping.

I was on the email list last year but didn't get a message this week. It was a fluke that I wasn't parked on the street this morning. I'll give it another week to see if they've resurrected the email list or if I need to sign up again. The fact that the robocall only went out this afternoon makes me think that everyone is still stretching after 3 months of hibernation.

I didn't get an email either so I just went to the city website and signed up again. I'm hoping this doesn't mean I start getting two emails every week.

Also, it's 2013. Why can't they just have an email alert system that starts (spring) and stops (winter) when it's supposed to? Sigh. Though I do love Somerville in about 99 ways so I'll forgive them this.

Off-topic but: I totally read this subject line as "Street Sweeping Résumés" and thought it would be about job postings for street sweepers, or (even better) a comparison of which DPW employee makes the cleanest streets.

Late to the game here, but FWIW down in Winter Hill we got a robocall and the regular warning email both came in before the first sweep for us, which happened to be this morning. Cars were also flyered. Not sure why others are having problems, but just wanted to share that we had a smooth transition.
