Anyone know where in city hall I need to go to apply for a resident sticker?
133 holland st, need registration with somerville addy, AND utility bill OR lease
Phone number, anything?

The city webpage is down . . . back up now
has been since yesterday afternoon.

Found the info. I guess the town's webpage only works when they do . . .
I just love getting less than 24 hours notice that they are going to be resurfacing the lot I park in.

Swear to god I was there at least a couple times to get the sticker--I'm just hazy on the name, not the location.

the parking office isn't in city hall, it's just outside of davis. if you're in the center of davis, go down holland passing the T on your left and johnny D's on your right. it'll be about a half mile up on your right, it's a grayish nondescript building.

and bring cash... they don't take credit or ATM cards... i think a resident permit is around $5, and additional visitor's passes are $1 each.

prunesnprisms is right. It's not at the City Hall building.

It's the brick building on Holland Street (heading from Davis Sq toward Teele Sq) at Paulina Street.

Be sure to bring your registration showing your Somerville address--I think that's the only thing they accept for the resident parking stickers. If you live on a permit parking only street you can also pick up visitor cards--for that you just need a recent utility bill from your current address.

It's near the Comcast office and Orleans, if that helps. And they're only open til 4 or 4:30 except Wednesdays...when they close at 6.

Does anyone know if they have any special resident permits for students with out of state tags? I don't want to move my insurance from NC to MA since I may only be here for two years, but I am so sick of switching three cars around the driveway everyday.

I've already gotten a few $30 tickets for accidentally violating the Visitor pass by parking for more than 2 days : (

Not to sound harsh, but resident stickers are for those of us who are actual residents paying for MA insurance and tags.

Admittedly, I'm sensitive about this issue since I live near Tufts and I am sick to death of having non-residents illegally park on the street I live on leaving no where for me or my visitors to park. Cars with out of state plates and no resident stickers or visitor passes had my car blocked in for two days last week because they both had parked so close to me there was no way I could get out, so I was left without use of my car for three days.

Oh and I'm originally from NC too :-).

if you need to get your car out and don't have enough room...call somerville PD.

i do know that they will tow for blocked driveways...not sure about not enough room to pull out...?

it's worth a shot if you need your car.

I'm actually in Medford (right on the line). I called the police and they gave me a line about it being the middle of a shift change and they'd get someone out when they could as long as nothing more important came up. 36 hours later both cars were still there. Yeah, I was pretty peeved. All I asked was for them to at least come out and ticket and they wouldn't even do that. And that's probably why people park on our street so often - they know they can get away with it. As I told my husband, we will never ever again live in a place without designated parking. The price you pay I guess.

There is no special resident permit for out-of-state students. State law says that you must re-register your vehicle and get a new license in Massachusetts as soon as you move here. You can sort of get away with it for a while if you park in a driveway, but you're probably more likely to get ticketed as long as you maintain out-of-state tags.
