Here in Boston, a square is an intersection or city center that has either more or less than four sides or directions leading out. We have lots of little "squares" that are regular four point intersections, but nobody ever calls them by name. You may have noticed some of these wandering around Camberville. The real squares, the ones people see fit to refer to as "Square", are non-fours. If Davis Square somehow magically changed into a four point intersection, then we'd have to stop calling it a Square, but as long as it has six streets, it's fine.
