Hi-- potentially awesome thing forthcoming as-soon-as/if I get permission to do it....

But, hypothetically speaking, if you were going to make a t-shirt and sell it to raise money for a fundraiser, where would you have them done? I'd like to keep it simple, and do it print-on-demand direct-fulfillment model rather than making and printing shirts in various sizes and having to make that work. But I want it to be decent quality, if these two things aren't inherently contradictory.

Cafe Press? Zazzle? or something else? Is there anyone local who works on this model?

Anyone have an experience with this they have been happy with in terms of customer service and quality?

Generally I'm down on Cafe Press because they seem to run stolen threadless designs, but I could be convinced otherwise if they are the best game going. VistaPrint flamboyantly and rudely reneged on an agreement with SOS, so I'm disinclined to ever do business with them again. :/

thanks for helpful suggestions... !

ETA: It looks like the project is likely a go. I may not end up being the one working on it, but the comments about which places to print it (and future projects I will be doing) will be handy. Thanks!

I have never been satisfied with the quality of anything I've bought from CafePress, though it has been a few years since I last ordered something from them. Last time I did, it was pretty obvious they were using iron-on transfers, and not particularly good ones. (The tote bag I got from them was okay; the shirts, not so much.)

I've heard better things about Zazzle, but I have no personal experience with them.

I used spreadshirt last year and the quality seems high to me.

You can swing by our office to check out all our products and samples. Although our Spreadshirt office is by South Station, so not close to Davis.

Sure, I just got a new one. This weekend is terrible for me, but let me know what your schedule is like next week. I'm free Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday during the day. You can also see it on G+, if I shared it correctly.

That is because you are not in my circles on G+. (Rachel is.)

Seconding this on cafepress. The design from the last shirt I bought from them started crumbling after the first wash.

I don't know if they do orders on demand, but I have a couple of shirts from Off World Designs (http://www.offworlddesigns.com/services/) that have held up beautifully for years.

edited to fix html, apparently brain clocked out early.

Zazzle disappointed me the last time I used them. The Somerville-local QRST's (http://qrsts.com/) did a great (screen-printed) shirt for [livejournal.com profile] 42itous a couple years ago and were a pleasure to work with. I don't think they do direct-fulfillment, though.

For a non-virtual option, QRSTs (http://www.qrsts.com/) is local and has always done well by me.

I did suggest on Twitter that we should have shirts made that proclaim "Snark Is Not Illegal," but I'm really not sure we should be selling stuff like that to help fund Ron's defense, as delicious as it would be.

I'd say that t-shirts made from the letters are right out. I'm pretty sure that would not be fair use in any way, shape or form.

haha yeah, i was just kidding. considering everything . . .it sounds like a bad idea. maybe one day i will make such a t-shirt for my own private use.

Rachel didn't say anything about what she wants to raise funds for with this shirt sale.

However, as far as the JonMon lawsuit, I think Johnny himself is the main fundraiser: Every time he sends another letter, he expands the pool of people who may contribute.

No, but since someone else raised the point, I figured I'd remark on it.

I had been toying with the idea of a FREE RON shirt, or possibly "FREE RON and the DAVIS 100", because that one sounds more like a band name.

I like cafepress as well. In other news, it's sad that VistaPrint did that to you, especially since they have a fairly large local office.

I have heard a lot of terrible things about VistaPrint, most notably signing people up to be charged monthly for services they didn't want (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vistaprint#Controversies). I will never order anything from them.

I use Spreadshirt for work and I like them a lot.

Cafe press's quality still is terrible. Spreadshirt's the main one that I really like the quality of, and it's reasonably priced.

My work got shirts and sweatshirts from http://www.customink.com/

They are some of the most comfortable clothes I own. The shirt in particular is awesome. It's AmericanApparell and super comfy.

FYI. Spreadshirt actually has their HQ in Boston - if picking someone local matters to you (we do make our products outside in PA though) SOURCE: I work for Spreadshirt.
