Rosebud update: Last day is Monday 5/27 (Memorial Day)

I was in Rosebud last night, and the waitress told me that their last day of business will be Memorial Day, Monday, May 27. They will probably close sometime during the daytime that day, and not be open that night. Same for the back room (Rosebud Bar & Grill).

(I asked her if I could post this, and she said, sure.)

Most melancholy to me: The giant photo of the Rosebud's sign on the wall at the McDonald's on Monsignor O'Brien Highway, (apparently to provide local Somerville color) -- which I guess will outlast the Rosebud itself.

That sign is protected under Somerville historic preservation, as is the entire exterior of the diner. That pretty much guarantees that whatever moves in here next, it still will be called the Rosebud.
