Wednesday, June 5th (two days away) is the voter registration deadline for the US Senate election coming up on June 25th, between Republican Gabriel Gomez and Democrat Ed Markey.

If you've already registered to vote in Massachusetts, you don't need to register again... unless you moved since the last time you registered. And I think many people in this community and their friends tend to move often. Have any of your friends moved recently? Ask them if they've updated their voter registration!

You can RSVP to this Facebook event and invite other people in Massachusetts to remind them of voter registration and the date of the election.

Can you add some detail about how to register (or re-register)?

The easiest way may be to fill out this PDF form online, print it out, sign it (box 14), and then mail it in. It must be postmarked by Wednesday.

Here's a PDF of the voter registration form. You can print it out and mail it in.

Or you can visit the good folks at the election department and register in person. They'll be open until 8 on Wednesday to take last minute registrations. (They're in City Hall at 93 Highland Ave on the corner of School Street)

If you moved on or after Dec. 25th, 2012 or still live in the same town where you were last registered, you can vote at your old address, though it may be inconvenient to do so.

If you're going to be out of town on June 25th, you can vote absentee. This is super easy to do in person if you go to City Hall, or you can request that a ballot be mailed to you. But make sure it gets back to the department by election day (not postmarked, actually arrived), because it won't be counted otherwise.

Thanks for that info! I did move after Dec 25th so it's good to know I can still vote at my old address if I don't manage to get my registration updated in time.

FYI, this is not true in local elections, as it's presumed that you should not be concerned about the politics of the city you've left, but otherwise state law provides a 6 month grace. If you're in the same town there's basically no limit to how long you can still vote at an old address, though if you've become inactive you'll need to fill out an affirmation of continuous residency, which will switch you over to your new address. I don't know at what point inactive voters are eventually removed from the rolls entirely, but that could pose a problem if it's been a rreeaallllyyyy long time since you moved (or voted).
