Leather repairs

I'm looking for someone to sew some buttons and pockets on heavy suede winter coats. Doing it myself has led to failure. I also need someone to try to recondition some leather coats.

Ideas?

I had a very good experience (http://blog.kamens.us/2013/03/13/rec-colonial-shoe-repair-in-boston-ma/) with Colonial Shoe Repair (http://www.colonialshoerepair.com/) downtown, and they claim to work with leather coats as well as shoes. You could give them a call and ask if they can do what you need.

Arthur at the shoe repair shop in the plaza (near Orange Leaf/Starbucks) should be able to help you. He does amazing work.

I had Savas Shoe Repair fix a leather jacket that I got at Goodwill. He somehow managed to invisibly bond the leather together in one spot to repair a hole. He did less of an amazing job sewing the pocket back on (he sewed through the lining instead of removing the lining before sewing, so now the lining has some ugly black stitches visible behind where the pocket is). The pocket is really solid, now, though, from the outside, and looks like it was never detached.

He loooooooves quality leather, so just be prepared to have a conversation about your jackets with him if you bring in a nice leather jacket (he scolded me for putting holes in my jacket, until I told him that I found it that way at Goodwill).
