I'm very happy with Speakeasy DSL. I've heard bad things about RCN, especially if you rent - apparently they have a tendency to drill holes in your house and put up grey boxes without checking that it's OK with your landlord. That's just hearsay though.
Comcast for digital cable and Internet. I tried to get RCN a long time a ago but I couldn'teven get them to return my calls to get set up (not a good sign) I dropped the true land line in favor of Vonage. My bill went from about $80 a month with Verzion to $16 with Vonage.
I've had RCN in the past and currently have Comcast. I've found that while the bandwidth is about the same, latency and routing with RCN was terrible. If you're just web browsing and checking email and such, it's not such an issue. But if you're gaming or doing remote command line work, it's quite frustrating.
So, roblem, I haven't been following this, but does Vonage have a good 911 solution these days? I know they didn't provide 911 in the past and some uninformed customers raised quite a stink about it.
Ah it must have been quite the issue as you are not the first person to ask about this. Yes they have a 911 system in place. You fill out a seperate form with your home address just so there is no mixup with a billing address, and that's it. They claim to route the 911 call info the same way that the land line providers do it. Here is the link http://vonage.com/features.php?feature=911
