Campaign to Divest Somerville from Fossil Fuels

A petition has been started to divest the city of Somerville from fossil fuels. This is a great chance for Somerville to be a leader on climate change!

If you're interested in getting involved with the campaign, there will be a  meeting tonight at 6 pm at the Climate Justice Hub in Davis Square.

The serious question is whether we can get the electricity consumers of Somerville to not use fossil-fuel generated electricity (especially coal). Investment money can be raised anywhere. But will the users pay the incremental cost of not emitting CO2?

There will be meetings once a week. You can sign up for the Climate Justice Hub email list (http://cjhub.org/contact-us/sign-up-for-our-email-list/), or look at their calendar (http://cjhub.org/events/), to find out when the next meeting will be. Right now, next week's divestment meeting is listed as being at 6 on Monday again, but that might be changing.
