A petition has been started to divest the city of Somerville from fossil fuels. This is a great chance for Somerville to be a leader on climate change!

If you're interested in getting involved with the campaign, there will be a  meeting tonight at 6 pm at the Climate Justice Hub in Davis Square.

For more background on what divestment is and why it's important in the fight against climate change, see:

what a great idea. i'd also support a ban on bottled water like they did in concord (despite what maria rodale said)

The serious question is whether we can get the electricity consumers of Somerville to not use fossil-fuel generated electricity (especially coal). Investment money can be raised anywhere. But will the users pay the incremental cost of not emitting CO2?

Hey, I couldn't make it last night but I'd be interested in learning more. Are there any other upcoming meetings? Thanks.
