A beautiful bengal cat appeared very recently in my neighborhood near Davis. It seems unusual for such a fancy, fancy cat to be out without a collar. Has anyone heard of one missing?
I have friends in California who have a Bengal, and they are incredibly difficult to keep inside even if you are trying to, so there is a real chance the cat is simply an indoor/outdoor. The cats can sometimes open doors, and can become holy terrors if they really want out and are denied it.
I hope this is the case, that's a lovely cat. If I ever decide to make my cats indoor/outdoor I will make sure they have collars so people don't worry.
My cat is indoor outdoor, with a collar and ID tag. She usually doesn't wander far. Twice now I've been out of town for a few days (so empty house) and have gotten a phone call, literally as we were driving back home, from a concerned neighbor down the street saying she had been sitting on their porch looking lost. I assured them that I lived nearby and had not abandoned her, that she did know how to get back inside if she wanted, and that I would be home imminently to assuage her loneliness.
So a collar doesn't necessarily make people not worry. :) (although I'm sure I wouldn't let her out without one)
