I've had T-Mobile since they were voicestream, and have been medium satisfied, but my contract is up and I really think I can do better. One thing I noticed was that I have no service in the diesel, macintyre and moore, and that precise area. I get a signal back around Mikes on one side and McDonalds on the other. Does anyone have input about other companies? I'm seriously looking at Cingular right now. Thanks!

Sprint gets coverage there.

I had AT&T the whole time I lived in Davis/Boston, and never really had any problems. Now that they are merged with Cingular, I would still think they are pretty good.

You'd think so, but really, they're not. Sad, but true.

It seems to be roughly the same now as Cingular as it was as AT&T. It's actually a little better around Kendall/MIT, where I'd always lose signal abruptly.

my Cingular phone did not get coverage in that area. i've had no problems with Sprint, even in the very back of Diesel.

Verizon is the best.

Echoing general happiness with Verizon.

With Sprint I couldn't even get service in my house and many other places. I'm generally happy with Verizon, just make sure to get a good phone.

i switched from verizon to t-mobile, and the coverage is significantly worse (most notably, i used to have service in underbones, and now i don't, which is inconvenient)

i've heard cingular has not-so-great practices as a company (for example, when you don't answer your phone and the caller leaves a voicemail for you, it counts as using your minutes). never had cingular myself, but i've heard this from a friend who sells phones. their merging with at&t may change that, though.

yeah, i'm pissed as hell with t-mobile right now and they would have to do a lot to earn back my trust at this point. drop-outs and poor coverage are sucky with them. people tell me verizon works well, AT&T sorta and I don't know the Sprint story right now.

Sprint

I used to have Verizon and encounterd a lot of problems with their billing department/customer service. I switched to Sprint about a year ago and it's been smooth sailing!

Coverage in the back of the diesel before it was expanded was one of my most important selection criteria two years ago. I did a t-mobile trial, it failed, bad. Then I got a verizon phone, and I'm planning to renew probably for another two years in august. T-mobile even consistantly dropped calls in my livingroom in Arlington. Sucks, T-mobile has much more interesting phones.

I've had a mostly good experience with Verizon. When I first moved to the Davis Square area, I had a phone with really poor reception all around the area, and I thought it was Verizon's fault. But I did a bit of research & got a better phone, and now I have terrific coverage all around (including the Diesel/M&M area). I think it really depends on the phone with Verizon, but currently I'm very happy.
