Contrary to previous announcements, the Red Line will NOT be shut down this weekend over the Longfellow Bridge, and the bridge will remain open to eastbound cars and two-way bike traffic as usual. The closure has been postponed to September 14-15.

Good. Now I know in enough time that I won't plan to have to be anywhere by a specific time on those days.

Did they say why?

Is there any visible progress for this project? For example, is the normally-eastbound road dug up so they can replace the beams underneath it? What have they done on the tracks during the earlier weekend shutdowns?

Are they still planning the September 14-15 diversion? It's not listed at http://www.mbta.com/rider_tools/transit_updates/?ttype=subway&route=Red+Line

They do list plenty of other Red Line diversions this fall. Between the Park-Kendall, JFK-Broadway, and JFK-North Quincy diversions, there's a disruption almost every weekend from October 12 to December 22.
