Your TV will *not* be "recycled" if you just leave it on the curb! You will instead get fined and the city will not pick it up. You'll need a disposal sticker from the Department of Public Works. I believe they cost $10, (unless the rates have gone up,) and can be acquired at the city offices on Franey Street, halfway between Ball and Magoon Squares.

This is not correct. You don't need a sticker and you don't have to pay anything to get rid of a TV or a computer monitor. That requirement is for appliances such as ovens, refrigerators, dishwashers, and the like. (The fee for which is now $25.)

You do need to call 311 at least one day before your trash pickup day and tell them you are disposing of a TV. Alternatively, you can bring it to the DPW between 8 am and 4 pm, Monday through Friday. Bring proof of Somerville residency if you do this.

Thanks. Someone should have told my neighbors that who left a TV out for months and months because the city wouldn't take it. I think you used to need a disposal sticker, but I guess the policy changed.
