Why thank you. I'm glad to hear you feel the viewing was worthwhile. She is quite incredible, really. Able to scale small buildings in almost a single bound. :)

She's got a very confident personality haha and she's a little ham. Definitely a troublemaker but I can't lie thats part of why I love her.

Sorry, not a potential buyer. But I did wonder if you are the person I see sitting on the porch sometimes with the tortoise when I walk home. I find your tortoise quite charming--s/he was quite active yesterday when it was very hot.

no sorry needed. To be honest my craigslist posting put me in a frustrated mood and these comments are making my night a whole lot better.

If it was yesterday that wasn't us. We were often found walking around the bike trail and on winslow ave. We've moved closer to porter but our 'family' still lives there and we can often be found sitting on the stoop there (well I'm sitting or following a wandering Zoya up and down the street ). We've been there this month cat sitting. More often, we take daily walks on summer street and around that area. I'm excited to know theres another tortoise taking to the streets of davis.

This is still a good time of year for tortoises. They do like the heat (to an extent) and it absolutely makes them more active (and trouble making hah). Its not assumed but they definitely have personalities, likes and dislikes, curiosity and memory. They aren't just sedentary pets. :)

Actually, I see the tortoise and her person on the porch near Porter, which is near where I live. I forget which street, actually, but I keep thinking maybe Cedar? Maybe near there? Anyway, I've seen them twice and I always stop and look and I hope the person doesn't think I'm being weird.

So glad to hear about their personalities! And I find it delightful (and kind of cute) that they get into trouble!

(I have birds, who very definitely have personalities, memories, understand object permanence, and think that humans are rather stupid. But some people seem to think they're just pretty animated houseplants.)

aww I love birds. I think they've got pretty similar personalities to be honest, just don't vocalize at all. hah. I had a cockatiel named Fitzgerald when I was younger. so awesome.

And That might be us! We're past Cedar but get up that way sometimes. I've met a few people on our walks that I've seen again. I'm sure whoever it is doesn't think you're being weird. If they love their tortoise enough to take it outside and for walks I'm guessing they at least understand the fascination/ interest of others. I know I have a tendency to love some of the adorable dogs I see when walking around.... no one seems to mind :)

We were contemplating pet tortoises for our family in a this-is-probably-really-stupid kind of way and then there were these cute turtle pics in a thread that clearly involved something for sale at some point, so I was confused. :)

aww its definitely not stupid! I'm sorry to cause confusion. I'm just absolutely in love with her and was so happy when people got excited about her so I left the pics up. I've actually started a tortoise/turtle blog (Tort-time.com) to help spread accurate care info, housing, general info about issues and cute pics hah. Now I'm getting certified to be a "turtle ambassador" and do presentations for the public. Hoping the somerville public library will be our first presentation.
