I need shoe repair that's relatively fast (same day or a few days, rather than 1-2 weeks) and, optimally, not too expensive.

In Davis Square or nearby, or easy to get to on the Red line.

Suggestions?  Thank you!

I dunno about speed, but isn't there a cobbler, "Davis Square Shoe Repair," in the Davis plaza that houses Starbucks, Orange Froyo, and Plan B?

In my one experience, I found him cranky and upstandingly honest: he turned away my business when he didn't have to.

The guy in Davis is good, but he's not speedy.

It's been a while, so I don't know if he's still there, but the guy at Odessa shoe repair in the basement of Cambridgeside Galleria is super-speedy and reasonably priced.

I had to get a sandal strap repaired and found this guy in the underground arcade that's in the tunnel that connects different parts of the Downtown Crossing station (on the Red Line). That was a couple of years ago so I don't know if he's still in business.

There's also Felix in Harvard Square.

I've always had good luck with Savas shoe repair, in the little plaza between Starbucks and Orange Leaf. He's a lovely old man. Most of the older posts here about shoe repair also recommend him.

ETA, adding to the above: he has also told me when he thinks something is not worth fixing.

Weird. I went by last Tuesday (September 24), he said it'd be ready by today (October 2), we settled on yesterday (October 1). Maybe it has to do with complexity? I needed new heel caps put on a pair of shoes.

He has signs that offer quicker work for a higher fee.

There's a place in Central square on Prospect street, less than one block from Mass Ave. They resoled my Berks a while back and did a good job. I wasn't in a hurry, so I don't know how "speedy" they are/can be.
