Amelia's in Teele Sq was closed and under renovations, and I have noticed the space looking more and more like a new restaurant as I pass by. It sounds like it's a name change but the same management, according to Eater Boston, and they say it is actually open now, with an Italian menu as before (I didn't check.)

Anyone check it out? I loved Amelia's when it first opened, er, 17 years ago according to that blurb, but lately it had fallen off my list of places worth getting back to.

Some friends and I went there just this weekend. It was pretty good - full beer/wine/liquor license. Menu is pretty standard, but well-executed and portions are generous. Service is friendly and the decor is quite nice - they said they took out the drop ceiling and found original tin ceiling, and it looks great.

I just wonder if a mid-priced red-sauce Italian joint, no matter how cozy and friendly, is the right approach. Posto makes truly excellent pizza not too far down the street, so if you want excellence you'll go to Posto. And if you want a bargain, there's plenty of places for good-but-not stellar takeout or delivery. Still, it seems like a good place for friends or families to grab a meal that's not too expensive and is still a fun night out. Give it a try and let me know what you think.

Posto is good, but in my experience it's always SO FREAKING LOUD. So maybe "Pretentious Name 7 Bistro" won't be? "Cozy" sounds like it could be a good sign...

Never going back to Posto. The food was fine, but our waiter repeatedly insisted that we couldn't possibly have ordered enough food. When we said, "we'll order more if we're still hungry", he countered that we should order more now and take it home if it was too much.
