Tufts Pool

Does anyone know how the Tufts pool works? I have seen signs outside the doors saying that you need a pass to get in. Can you buy a pass or do you need to be a member? It also looked like there were only certain hours people could go in? Does anyone have more info? Also, is it nice and clean?

Alternatively, is there anywhere else in the area that someone could just go swim laps?

My mother in law is going to be in town and was looking for somewhere to swim.

you need to be a Medford resident and you need to get a pass for the summer, like $15 or a little more. I didn't do it this year. they probably sell passes when they are open, which is to 7 or 8 pm. Wish I could be more helpful; you could try calling medford city hall on Monday.

That's weird, when I was looking at the Tufts library facilities, it was open to Medford and Somerville residents alike. You'd think all of the facilities that would be open to one would be open to the other since the campus straddles both.

If you mean the pool at Tufts U, I don't know about that. I figured you were talking about the pool at Tufts Park on Main St, Medford, it's not affiliated with Tufts University, but is owned by the City. Confusing, but true. Check out http://medford.org/fGoverment.htm

I would recommend the pool at the Kennedy school on Elm St. near Porter Square. It costs $3 a pop for non-residents I think.
