Theo's?

Anyone know what's up with Theo's? Are they opening under new management as a pizza place, doing basically the same thing? Or some other kind of thing? Or is it all a ruse?

(I remember back when they were Somerville House Of Pizza. Still 666-TADA though... "Satan Surprise! May I take your order?")

(They did not, as far as I know, ever do that. Totally should've.)

I noticed 2 days ago they are papered over but did not get a chance to see if it was reno or closing. it'd be a shame if they did; they're the pizza place that Two Guys, a Girl, And a Pizza Place was based on.

There's a sign that says it's under new ownership and will be reopening soon (they've been closed 2-3 weeks now).

Yeah, it's been longer than that; I called on November 4th to order a pizza, and their voice mail said they were "under new management" (or maybe "ownership") and "closed for four weeks". Now their voice mail box is full when you call.

Good riddance. I ordered from them a few times when I lived up in Teele. Bad pizza, and even worse customer service. Looking at the Yelp reviews, I see I'm not alone in my dislike for them.

To be fair, Yelp runs an extortion racket; if Theo's didn't pay their protection fees, Yelp would have promoted all the bad reviews.

(I've never eaten at Theo's, so I have no opinion myself.)

Shrug; I liked their pizza, and especially their calzones, but different people like different things. (I tried Verna's for the first time the other day, and thought the service was fine but the donuts were mediocre, both of which seem contrary to the popular consensus.)

I did notice that their delivery times had gotten a *lot* worse in the past year or so -- they used to consistently show up within fifteen or twenty minutes, and it had started to get to be more like 30 - 60. And once or twice with the wrong order, which had never happened (in years of ordering from them) before.

When I called last night, their voice mail message had changed, and now says something like "Theo's Pizza is under new management and will re-open the first week of December", which (a) suggests that they're still going to be a pizza place; (b) gives a somewhat narrower timeframe for reopening.

Last time I went by (this morning) there was still no sign on the outside, and the windows were still papered over, although both of those things are probably quick to fix.
