Community Meeting Tonight on Vacant McDonald's Space

My apologies, although I didn't notice a dedicated headline, I did see that a mention of this meeting was made in another thread. I'll delete this if ya'all find it repetitive.

There will be a community meeting on Bibim's desire to occupy the, now vacant, McDonald's space (243 Elm Street) in Davis Square. Bibim has received rave reviews for their Allston location and were included in the Boston Globe's list of the best food in 2013.

The meeting will be held in the Baptist Church (31 College Avenue) from 7:00-8:30pm and will feature samples of their cuisine. They will be before the Licensing Commission one week from tonight. The Somerville Patch has featured the meeting information on their website today.

I will be attending the meeting and don't mind posting a recap if you like.

Amazing, a huge chain replaced by a mom an pop operation. Doesn't really fit with the narrative of Davis I'm constantly reading online. :-) I hear from my significant other the food at their other location is amazing!!

Just a couple of months ago Alderman Gewirtz and her friends at the licensing commission shot down the proposed Beer Works directly across the street from the now-vacant McDonalds by claiming (for seemingly unsubstantiated reasons) that the city's remaining liquor licenses were only for areas in need of economic development. Bibim is requesting a full liquor license from the city, as was Beer Works. Tonight we will hopefully find out if Gewirtz was full of "it" or if she is sticking by her ridiculous assertion that Davis Square doesn't deserve any of the city's 7 remaining non-Assembly Square liquor licenses.
