I was just wondering, can non-students take out books from the Tufts library, and if so, do they need a library card for Tufts or anything special like that?

Thank you

I read through the last list of posts and I would add this: I *heard* once (though I've never tried) that if you have a note on departmental letterhead that says you really need to see something at Widener (better, perhaps, to have a specific reference) then they'll let you in on a specific day. Also,

Tufts has wireless now, but you need a student e-mail account to use it. I don't think anyone would think you're a criminal for using the library. The computers in the library are divided into "check the catalog" computers, e-mail only computers, and a few research computers. You can't print without paying (I think it's on the normal copy cards that you don't an ID to buy.) None of them require a login.

Also, if you can find Eaton Hall (it's right next to, and up the hill from the library) there is a computer lab that also doesn't check ID's, at least not the last time I was in there. The public wouldn't be able to print, because that is controlled, but you could walk in, access the internet on PCs and Macs, scan stuff (a big plus), and save to disk or usb key. The lab is the first door on the left after you walk in the building.

I work at the eaton computer lab...

you can print if you'd like, just buy a copy card. 10 cents a page like anyone else. Ask the User Consultants at the desk where to buy cards and they'll point you to the machine that sells them.
