I'm looking for a space to (hopefully cheaply) throw a party for ~100 people. This was the post I could find about the same topic, but after looking up a few of the places suggested I can see that some of them are out of date. Does anyone know of event spaces that are currently available for rent? Right now my list of places that MIGHT be available are VFW, the Museum of Modern Renaissance, and...that's it.

On the same topic, has anyone rented space at the Sons of Italy hall on Broadway? They have a sign up front, but nothing online from people who've rented the building for events.

Thanks!

Anthony's, at Highland Ave. and Central St?
Dante Club?
There's an American Legion post on Highland Ave. near City Hall, and another one on Glen Street in East Somerville.

I was going to suggest the American Legion Post on Highland, as well. I think it has a higher capacity than the VFW--I'm pretty sure the VFW's capacity is less than 100.

VFW will fit 100, but not if you want the all to be sitting at tables.

FYI Anthony's is now owned by caterer Cuisine en Locale (http://www.cuisineenlocale.com/), so I think is only available as part of a package catered by them.

There is the Somerville City Club, however, it is not fully accessible. Their website is: http://www.somervillecityclub.com/

The Sons of Italy may not have much online, so your best bet is to call and ask about pricing. They are going to be under construction soon, btw.

The Somerville Museum isn't (yet) accessible, but it's a great and reasonably affordable space for a party.

Do they have info about that posted online anywhere, or is it a strictly email-for-info type thing?

Brooklyn Boulders will do events, too.

Is Cambridge ok? If so, there's the Dante Alighieri center (near Kendall), the Cambridge Multicultural Arts center (near Lechmere), possibly Ryles in Inman Sq (not sure how many they can fit). I think Oberon (Harvard Sq) might do private rentals some nights, but might be larger than you need.

How about Dance Union on Bow Street in Union Square? I have no idea how much it costs to rent. On second thought... might be a bit too small for 100 people. (I've done Zumba there, and attended a benefit fashion show that was packed shoulder to shoulder...)

Arlington Center for the Arts' theater. $35 an hour. That'll definitely fit 100 people. We had my daughter's Star Wars birthday party there. (We had nowhere near 100 people, but it was a lot of room for 12 kids to run around with light sabers!). Plus-- parking! And close to Mass Ave/ Buses 77, 79, 350, and Broadway/ Bus 87. http://acarts.org/theater_rental.php
