The spot on Broadway in powderhouse square that used to be Toni and Ana's, I think, has a new sign out for Frozen Hoagies, with a cartoon picture of an ice cream sandwich. A quick google says this is a Boston area food truck now.

still looks quite under construction inside.

At least it isn't frozen yogurt?

"Hoagies"? Are we in Philadelphia, now?

I confess some disappointment they did not avail themselves of this shining opportunity to use "spuckie", but I suppose it's best to plan your ice cream sandwich empire for expansibility.

Or "grinder"

That might conjure up a disturbing image, though, I admit.

Never heard of frozen hoagies before. Where did Toni and Ana move to?

You had frozen yogurt once before in Powderhouse, except it was never open....

Toni and Ana's closed, entirely. I rent the space next door and it was rather sudden. Also, I don't find the concept of a frozen hoagie all that appealing, but I can only assume "Ice Cream Sandwich Shop" was taken.

My first reaction

...as a native of central NJ, was thinking that someone had found a way to take fresh, delicious hoagies, freeze them, and ship them up here for defrosting and enjoyment.

Too bad it's a concept that will never work.

PS- I think it might take a while for Eastern MA residents to understand what the heck a "hoagie" is, so I wish them well in spreading the new lexicon.

FWIW, I've eaten at their truck in SOWA and I like it a lot, but it's basically upscale made-to-order ice cream sandwiches; they fill the niche very well, but it's a narrow niche.

I have seen the food truck of the same name over at the Assembly Row food truck festival earlier this year. They seemed to have a steady line of customers, though not nearly as large as the lines for many of the other trucks. I did not sample any of their offerings though. It does seem like more of a niche product, but maybe they needed a kitchen/prep space of their own now for the truck rather than using a shared space.

My hubby and I went to Frozen Hoagies this evening. EVERYONE SHOULD GO HERE!!!! For $5 you get a HUGE ice cream sandwich made upon your request. We got one sandwich made with peanut butter cookies and cow tracks ice cream and the other sandwich made with chocolate fudge cookies and mint fudge ice cream. The ice cream is from Chilly Cow in Arlington (yum!). The owner of Chilly Cow makes special flavors upon her request. The vegan ice cream is from FoMu in Allston (yum! yum!). The owner (Mary) is super nice and said that she left her corporate job to "live the dream." I love the idea of supporting local business owners. Even if you don't love the cookies (which were pretty decent contrary to some reviews that I had read) each sandwich contains enough ice cream that even without eating the cookie part, you are getting way more for your $$$$ than at stupid JP licks!
