Concord grapes are in!
Sep. 1st, 2014 05:36 pmThe Concord grapes are ripe! The first ones, anyway. If you don't know my address, send me an email.
I don't need to be home, nor can I reserve them for you. They're catch-as-catch-can.
Green or purple Concord grapes aren't good for anything. You want blue-black!
Concord grapes ripen individually, not by the bunch. Please don't take the underripe with the ripe just to save time. Consider it a meditative exercise or a treasure hunt.
Bring a box or something else stable to stand on, unless you're a basketball star. Please pick from underneath the arbor, rather than from in the garden (although if you were to pilfer some mint leaves, or a head of Egyptian walking onions to plant for yourself, I wouldn't mind.)

Date: 2014-09-03 12:23 pm (UTC)The vines were here when I moved in, gorgeous, gnarled old things that climb over the arbor and garage roof and up the neighbor's silver maple. I have no idea how old they are, but I'm thinking of taking a few cuttings to put in between them so that when they wear out, there'll be some fresher stock.
