Drilling for Christmas trees?

I have a Christmas tree stand that has a spike in it, you drill a hole into the trunk of the tree to secure it onto the stand. Typically this is done by the people selling the tree.
We've been going up to the North Shore for this service for several years, but I'd really like to try somewhere else (because literally the last two years, there has been a brawl in the tree lot. >_< )

Anyone know anywhere within a 20 minute drive that will let me pick out a Christmas tree and drill it for me?

I don't know if you mean "pick out a tree to be cut," or "pick out a tree that's already been cut." If the latter is OK, you might try Ricky's Flower Market in Union Square. They display some of their trees on stands with spikes, so it seems likely they'd have the equipment to drill a hole in a not-already-drilled tree. You could try calling them to ask.

I definitely mean, pick a tree that has already been cut, by someone else, maybe even in Canada and put on a big rig. Thanks!

Ok, I don't know about the tree, but my interest has been piqued - what are people brawling about at the tree lot? A perfect tree?

Some guy who works there usually takes the tree from the people who've selected it, and while it's in the drilling/wrapping process, throws it in the dirt. Cue crying from the kids and women who don't want their perfect tree thrown in the dirt, cue someone taking a swing at the employee, cue the manager of the lot who now has to make compensation.

It's a MESS. Nice trees, but a mess.

It is the same employee from year to year who does this, so I guess they must be satisfied with this behavior.
